The Cancer Campaigning Group's 'White Paper', Getting It Right For People With Cancer: What The Voluntary Sector Wants From The Cancer Reform Strategy, represents the culmination of a consultation exercise undertaken by the CCG.
In August 2006, following a series of seminars on cancer policy, the Group published a "Green Paper" consultation document, aimed at making the case for a second NHS Cancer Plan. By the end of November over 50 responses had been received.* The views expressed in those responses are summarised in this White Paper.

On 30 November, the Government announced its intention to produce a "Cancer Reform Strategy". In the same month, the CCG commissioned health policy expert Edmund Waterhouse as an independent author for the CCG 'White Paper'. Mr Waterhouse helped the CCG unite the voices of its member charities and Green Paper contributors, drafting a set of proposals to further influence the Cancer Reform Strategy.
"This is a great example of how charities can work together effectively. The voluntary sector makes a vital contribution to cancer services in England, and the expertise represented in these proposals is significant and welcome. I look forward to working with the Cancer Campaigning Group and its members as we develop the Cancer Reform Strategy, to tackle the disease and improve the lives of the millions of people it affects".

National Cancer Director
