The Cancer Campaigning Group (CCG) is a coalition of national cancer-related charities representing service providers, research, advocacy and campaigning groups for cancer patients and their families. Founded in 2002, it enables cancer charities to speak and campaign with a single unified voice.
The aim of the CCG is to campaign for improved cancer policy and services in the areas of prevention; care and treatment; patient involvement and choice; and research.
The CCG’s campaigning strategy and activities are developed by a steering group of representatives from six member charities – Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Breast Cancer Campaign, The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, The Rarer Cancers Forum and The Prostate Cancer Charity. Luther Pendragon provides the Secretariat to the Group, including communications advice, support and implementation.
The CCG’s work is supported by six pharmaceutical companies – GlaxoSmithKline, GE Healthcare , Roche, Pfizer, Bristol-Myers-Squibb and Sanofi-Aventis. Supporting organisations do not direct or control CCG strategy, activities or literature in any way. The CCG ensures that all its relationships with supporter organisations comply with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) code of conduct, governing the relationship between patient groups and pharmaceutical companies.
